What Does The Bible Say About Healing

The Word of God says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” Acts 10: 38.

This lets us know that healing is God’s will for His children. Some have erroneously concluded in their minds that God does not want to heal them or that God is so mad at them because of their sins, hence He does not want to heal them of their infirmities.

If God does not want to heal you He would not have anointed the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles in Bible days or given us Christians the power to heal the sick through prayer and our faith.

God delights in your health; He wants you living in divine health. So if you are being denied sound health with sickness or through any other oppressions of the devil, you need healing from God to restore you to divine health.

See what He said in this Scripture, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers” 3 John 1: 2. Can you see that God wants us well?

Again, some folks have said that God put sickness on them to humble them. This is pretentious humility; a lie from the pity of hell.

The Bible says that God does not use the instrument of the enemy or the devil to punish His children. “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone” James 1: 13.

Sickness is an instrument of the devil and it is only the devil that afflicts people with sickness.

He Sent His Only Son To Pay For Our Sins

To prove God loves you and wants you well, He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to die for your sins and by the stripes the Lord Jesus Christ received on His body for our sake, we were healed of all your sicknesses and infirmities.

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds, you have been healed” 1 Peter 2: 24. The issue of your healing is a settled matter.

God took care of it two thousand years ago when the Lord Jesus Christ died and paid for your sins. He took those stripes for your healing. Praise God.

God Heals Us All

The Lord Jesus Christ healed so many sick folks in Bible days. He healed lepers, palsies, hemorrhage, fever, blindness, deafness, insanity, epilepsy and so many others.

He also cast out devils and raised the dead. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to each other. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” Luke 4: 18.

He did it in Bible days and He still healing sick folks today. Remember that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What He did for one, He would do for anyone under the same circumstances. No sickness is too difficult for Him to heal. If He could raise dead Lazarus from the grave after four days, there is no situation we have that he cannot heal.

Healing Happens Through Our Faith

One characteristic feature about all the sick folks that the Lord Jesus healed or those who were healed in both Old and New Testament, is that the sick folks demonstrated faith either in the Lord Jesus Christ, His message, or on God as it were in the Old Testament.

What that means is that healing from God does not just fall on your laps just like that; you must demonstrate your faith to be healed.

Praying through faith

And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you” Luke 17: 19: “Jesus turned and saw her.”Take courage, daughter,” He said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was cured from that very hour” Matthew 9: 22: “He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him; saw that he had faith to be healed” Acts 14: 9.

Those are some examples of folks who got healed in the Scriptures. They had faith to be healed and they were healed.

According to the Bible, “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11: 1. In other words, faith is the response of your human spirit in the Word of God.

Faith is the fuel that drives our prayers. Here are some prayers for healing the sick

There Is Power In The Word Of God

You hear God’s Word and you lift into corresponding action. That is, if the Word of God says you are healed, irrespective of how sick you were, you get and start demonstrating your faith. If you could not walk, you get up and start walking.

“Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk. Immediately the man was made well, and he picked up his mat and began to walk. Now, this happened on the Sabbath day” John 5: 8 – 9.

Sometimes, the circumstance might not seem different but that does not mean you have not been healed. The healing anointing is inside you; in your spirit.

What you need to do is to maintain your faith-filled confessions because you can lose your healing by speaking contrary.

To be healed is different from been made whole. Wholeness is complete restoration. To be healed is to fix the sickness but to be made whole restores everything.

That was the case of the ten lepers the Lord Jesus healed in Luke 17. “And he said unto him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole” Luke 17: 19.

Healing did not stop with the Apostles as some have erroneously claimed. God is still healing sick folks today. He does so through any Christian and that includes you.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give” Matthew 10: 8; “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name, they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well” Mark 16: 17 – 18.
