Every person needs saving from one thing or the other. It could be from an abusive relationship, a bad decision that is now showing sufferable consequences, a health challenge, a financial challenge, a difficult economy, spiritual oppression or obsession, just name it and you would see that it could be an endless list of things men need saving from.
In the quest to find ‘salvation’ from all these difficulties that can disturb men, some have tried to find ways of annulling the effects or totally eliminating these issues, but they have not really been as effective as they should. This is because most of the problems that men are faced with have a spiritual root, but they try to cure it by mere physical means.
What Is Salvation?
Salvation is not a result of a physical formula that can be applied magically to take away every problem. It is a dynamic power that is only accessed by men through the grace of God.
When we say ‘salvation’, it doesn’t only mean that a man’s soul is saved, in that, he is now free from eternal damnation in hell. Salvation is far more encompassing than this.
The word interpreted as ‘salvation’ from the Greek is mostly the word soteria, and this is to mean a complete salvaging of not only the soul but preservation, safety, deliverance (health, finances, peace), and everything that should concern men.
You see, this salvation is supposed to be the one key that opens every door, it is a collection of possibilities.
The salvation of God is not only limited to this present world but is also a commitment to our future; it also means the saving of our souls to receive the eternal blessings of God in the kingdom to come. So, salvation is both now and, in the future, as well.
Why Do You Need God’s Salvation?
Well, in the beginning, God did not plan for all the complexities and sufferings that men go through today. When God made the earth and the heavens, He intended the earth to be a place that man would dwell in health, prosperity and fellowship with Him:
“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’” – Genesis 1:28 NKJV
If we follow the intention of God and follow the story carefully all through the Bible, we see that it was not the plan of God for man to be reduced to this level of existence.
For example, even after the fall of Adam that had taken away some measure of virtue from man, the Psalmist still observes something fascinating, and says about God:
“What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” – Psalms 8:4 NKJV
Man was, and is still so important to God.
And, why are all these things happening? Because man fell. Man fell since the first man, Adam, disobeyed God by eating of the fruit which he was commanded not to eat of. The choice was between the tree of life, and the tree of knowledge, and clearly the wrong choice was made. God had said:
“but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat it you shall surely die.” – Genesis 2:17 NKJV
And then, after a while this happened:
“And He said, ‘Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?’
Then the man said, ‘The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.’” – Genesis 3:11-12 NKJV
This was the fall of man from the glorious fellowship and presence of God, which brought the introduction of sicknesses, famines, poverty, hate, envy, and all sorts of evils that we experience today.
Though we are still in the world and still face these challenges, but the salvation of God is our ticket to coming out victorious and winning the crown of salvation.
If we want to be reconciled to the presence of God, and enjoy fellowship with Him, and His blessings, then we must accept His system of salvation through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.
How Is Salvation Attained?
Salvation is gotten from God, by His grace, through the blood of Jesus Christ His only Son. In the old days, God made a system for man to atone for this sin that caused the separation, through the blood of bulls and goats, but this was not sufficient.
So, when the time had come for God’s plan to use His Son’s blood as the ultimate sacrifice came, in His love, Jesus came down and offered Himself willingly for our salvation:
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” “And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.” – Romans 5:6,8 & 11 NKJV
There is only redemption through Jesus Christ, and all who want to receive Him must do so with a heart of faith, believing in His power to save:
“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” – Romans 10:10 NKJV
And when you call on Him, you are sure of being saved:
“For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For ‘whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.’” – Romans 10:12 & 13 NKJV
Salvation is free for all men, no matter where they come from or what they have done in the past; this is the grace of God unto all men.
What Are The Benefits Of Salvation?
With salvation comes both spiritual gifts as well as physical gifts:
“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” – 2 Peter 1:3 NKJV
It is a provision for both our physical (life) and spiritual (godliness) requirements.
Spiritually, we have received the gift of righteousness [Philippians 3:9]. We also have received the fruit of the Spirit that expresses the righteousness of God in and through us [Galatians 5:22-23].
Physically, we have been saved from every woe that can trouble us, and we have been given a new way to approach them in victory and conquest.
We have been blessed by the goodness of God through His salvation, seeing that we now have unhindered access into His presence. [Philippians 4:6,7,19]
Salvation is for all men, for God deeply desires that all be saved and none be lost in the fires of hell. No matter how dark a man’s past may be, the salvation of God can save and restore him to the glorious light the life of God gives.
Bible Verses About Salvation
These are some of the Bible verses about salvation.

As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches.
